Truth in Advertising

We had such a great week at Deer Ridge last week. Thanks to everyone who prayed for us. We even saw deer multiple times a day to make the name true. I was beginning to wonder if they were trained and released at certain times of the day.

One thing I was reminded of was God's desire just to be with us. Too often we bring Him our prayer lists and songs, but we miss the times of listening, meditation, and resting in His presence. We spend a lot of our time telling Him what we think He ought to do and not much time listening to His heart. We have so much to do that we miss the most important thing. I love the story of Mary & Martha when Jesus comes to visit.

Luke 10:38-41 38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" 41 "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

Take time this week, and every week, to sit at His feet and rest.

Be Refreshed!

Proverb of the Day: Proverbs 5:1-2 1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen well to my words of insight, 2 that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge.

Scripture of the Day: Luke 5:15-16 15 Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

Quote of the Day: He does not seem to me to be a free man who does not sometimes do nothing. Cicero
